Thank You!


Ballot BoxThe Liberal Democrat team in Oadby would like to say thank you to everyone who voted for us in the local elections on 5th May.

Bucking the trend across the country, the Lib Dems held onto all 9 of their seats in Oadby, with the Conservatives holding 2. In Oadby Grange, the Liberal Democrats came within 9 votes of gaining a 10th seat.

Across Oadby and Wigston Borough, the Liberal Democrats gained 2 seats to take their total to 23 councillors. The Conservatives are down 2 seats and have 3 councillors.

Leader of the Borough Council, councillor John Boyce said, “I would like to thank the people of Oadby, Wigston and South Wigston for their vote of confidence.”

“People supported our campaigns to continue free shoppers’ parking and weekly waste and recycling collections across the Borough, our strong record of careful financial management and the way we listen and respond to the concerns of local residents all year round.”

“In Oadby Grange councillor Sarah Dickinson made history as the first Liberal Democrat to hold a seat in what is traditionally the safest Conservative ward in the Borough.”

“Despite making gains nationally, Labour failed to find candidates across most of the Borough and are completely out of the race locally.”
