The Highways & Street Lighting department of the County Council has updated its weekly list of roadworks in Oadby:
The Gas Main works on Stoughton Road continue with temporary lights in operation. These are expected to to be completed next month.
Highway and signal works are on-going at the junction of New Street and the A6 with some lane restrictions. These are expected to be finished at the end of February.
Note that the Council say these are planned works: short-notice urgent works may not be listed above.
Full details can be found at Leicestershire County Council’s web site (look for the link to the Oadby and Wigston area).
A map is also available and sometimes contains the urgent works too.

Naveed Alam and the Liberal Democrats would like thank everyone who voted and supported our campaign in the Woodlands by-election yesterday. In a hard-fought contest, the Conservative candidate won by 94 votes.
Naveed said, “Thank you for your help and support and I am sorry we were not able to win this time. I have enjoyed meeting local residents and this has helped the campaign team identify several issues, which your Liberal Democrat councillors, Rupa Kanabar, Dean Gamble and Mike Griffiths, will take forward.”
As ever, please contact us if you have anything you wish to bring to the councils’ attention.
The result was:
Conservative 454

Naveed Alam - Liberal Democrat Candidate
Voters in Woodlands Ward, Oadby go to the polls today to elect a new Borough Councillor. Voting is from 7am to 10pm at Woodland Grange School.
If you have forgotten to return your postal vote you can still complete it and hand it in at the school before 10pm.
3 reasons to vote for Liberal Democrat Candidate Naveed Alam:
- supporting the Liberal Democrat record of safeguarding local services like free garden waste collections and free shoppers’ parking. Nearby Tory councils charge for these;
- a local man with experience of working with community organisations like the Oadby Forum;
- he will work to continue the careful financial management of the Borough Council by the Liberal Democrats. This has seen no cuts to front line services, instead saving money by cutting top management and also being able to freeze Council Tax.
