Register to Vote before the holidays
Households in Oadby are currently receiving voter registration forms from Oadby & Wigston Borough Council. This is happening earlier in the year than normal due to the election for Police Commissioner in November.
A change in last few years is that you now need to opt-out of the “Edited Register” every year. This is a separate version of the Electoral Register. It can be bought by any person or organisation and can be used for commercial activities like marketing.
There is a column on the registration form that you can tick to opt-out from the Edited Register. You can also follow the instructions on the form and register online. This method also allows you to opt-out of the Edited Register, but only if there are no other changes to voter registration in your household.
The form also contains information about how to register by text and phone. However you cannot op-out of the Edited Register using these methods.
If you use the internet, text or phone methods you could help to save the Council money.
