Liberal Democrats in Oadby & Wigston have frozen Council Tax for the third year running.
And unlike their counter-parts on the Tory County Council, the Lib Dems have maintained frontline services such as weekly bin collections and FREE shoppers car parking.
Despite having £100 million of Council Tax Payers’ money in the bank, Conservative bosses at County Hall have cut funding for youth workers and PCSOs. Basic services like roads, winter gritting and drain cleaning have all been neglected.
Conservative Councillors can find £1 million for an office and a chauffeur driven car for their Leader but not basic services like this. We think this is disgraceful.

Oadby & Wigston Borough Council has been asked to make 26% savings over 3 years in line with the Governments Financial Settlement.
The Council has a Liberal Democrat majority. Through sound financial planning, restructuring and efficiency savings, your Lib Dem councillors have saved £1m from the council budget for next year while protecting front line services, such as weekly refuse collections and free shoppers car parking in Oadby town centre.
We are committed to engaging with the community through our committee systems to put further financial plans in action for the next three years.

The Liberal Democrat controlled Oadby and Wigston Borough Council has frozen its Council Tax for 2011-12
That means that the band D charge, on which all other bands are based, will remain at £202.60. Note that this is the element of the Council Tax that goes to the Borough Council. Other elements are set by Leicestershire County Council, the Police and the Fire Authority.
Liberal Democrat councilors feel it is important to help local people at this difficult time, so we have held the Council Tax charge at 2010-11 rates.
