Royal Anglians parade in Wigston this Sunday

Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment will parade in Wigston on Sunday.

The regiment has been granted Freedom of Oadby & Wigston by the Borough Council and will be exercising this freedom for first time.

Around 100 soldiers and 50 band members from the 3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment will parade along Bell Street, Long Street and Bushloe End in Wigston from 12 noon.

Over the past six months 120 soldiers have been deployed on operations in the United Nations buffer zone in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The parade will take place on Sunday 9th October from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m, starting from Bell Street in Wigston and turning left into Long Street. The parade will pause by the Peace Memorial Park to allow the Lord Lieutenant to take the salute and the Mayor to make a speech and inspect the troops.

The parade then continues to the end of Long Street, turning right onto Bushloe End and on to the Royal British Legion, where the troops will fall out. These roads will be closed from 11:50 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.
