Campaigning to make the A6 safer in Oadby

A6 waldron driveLiberal Democrats have long fought for improvements to make the A6 safer.

Councillors Jeffrey Kaufman and Dean Gamble welcome the works that have taken place on the junction of the A6 with London Road and Waldron Drive. A filter has been added to allow traffic to turn safely into these roads from the dual carriageway.

Lib Dem Councillors pressed for this to be undertaken quickly with minimal disruption for local road users. We hope it didn’t cause too much inconvenience.

Lib Dems are also pressing for the County Council to investigate flooding problems on this part of the A6.

Dean and Jeffrey say, “It is about time something was done about this. We will continue to press the County Council for action.”

Oadby, start of The ParadeThank you to everyone who attended the recent Oadby Town Forum meeting.

At the meeting it was agreed to request that the County Council, who are in charge of winter gritting, provide more grit bins across the area. It was also agreed that the seating in Ellis Park should be improved.

Grass verges a mess – again!

Damaged vergeOnce again residents have complained about the state of grass verges.

Local Lib Dems have reported these to the County Council who are responsible for maintaining them.

We have been told that Conservative bosses have changed the policy so grass verges will now not be repaired unless they are dangerous.
